GENETIC AND REGENERATIVE MEDICINE:
PROBLEMS AND PERSPECTIVES
14-15 October 2010
Kyiv, Ukraine
Among priority research directions in modern biology and medicine, the fields of regenerative medicine and stem cell utility in the treatment of severe diseases are gaining momentum now. Numerous investigations are being carried out worldwide to develop their genetic modifications and to explore the possibilities of using embryonic fetal cells, cord blood cells and adult stem cells for repair of damaged tissues and organs. Of special interest for socially oriented policy is the study on long-term consequences of genetics modification on cells and organisms.
The use of new stem cell technologiesfor hereditary pathology correction, for cure of severe and widespread diseases (i.e. heart and vascular diseases, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and others) and for repair of damaged tissues and organs holds great promise for practical medicine.
